Activity : Stock identity

Assessments ought to concern identified fish stocks. However stocks are often not properly known partly because the means to decide on their delineation are complex (genetic studies, tagging experiments, etc).

As an alternative approach to these complex procedures, the objective of this activity is to define and use a set of descriptors to help decide whether two neighbouring sub-populations behave similarly both in time and space. In this case, they will likely form a stock.

The case study considered here targets the octopus populations around the national border between Morocco and Mauritania.
