|Improve Scientific and Technical Advices for Fisheries Management||
Patrick Berthou has been actively involved since 1977 in a large number of projects relating to fisheries information systems, fisheries stock assessment and fisheries management. He is a senior fisheries officer and coordinated (1999-2004) "the French national fisheries monitoring system". He now coordinates two IFREMER fisheries programmes. Dr Berthou has a good experience of tropical fisheries (Central America) having been, from 1995 to 2000, scientific coordinator of a French cooperation project aimed at supporting the European programme Pradepesca for the creation of Â“Centro Regional de Investigaciones Pesqueras del CaraibeÂ” (CRIPCCA), RoatÃ¡n, Bay Islands, Honduras. From 1998 to 2001 he also directed the "small-scale fisheries" component of the Bay Islands management programme (PMAIB).
