The ULPGC (Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria -ULPGC) is a public university that was founded on Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). The ULPGC is structured into 36 departments, 16 faculties and schools and 4 research institutes. The fisheries research group belongs to the biology department and has 4 senior lecturers, 1 emeritus professor, 8 PhD students and 12 students. This group is currently involved in various research programmes relating to fish biology and ecology, to satellite monitoring of the small-scale fisheries, and to modelling the dynamics of fish populations.

Rôle: Within the scope of the WP3 (for the CECAF area of interest, i.e. FAO Fishing Area 34), our tasks will be as follows: (i) Current management issues for pelagic and cephalopod species and stock dynamics in cooperation with Dr. Balguerias, IEO, from both a classical point of view (Beverton-Holt and Ricker derived approaches) and from a non-linear evaluation/assessment methodologies (already developed within our group and published) (ii) Training and non-technical/technical presentations of the method.
