Rôle: The role of IPIMAR in ISTAM is to transmit experience in data collection/analysis for assessment purposes (market sampling and research surveys) and knowledge obtained in recent research projects in the area of small and large pelagic resources with commercial interest to both southern Europe and northwestern Africa. In addition, IPIMAR will contribute to identify and prioritize methodologies to describe ecosystem productivity, loss of biodiversity, habitat alteration due to river-basin management and various forms of marine pollution (petroleum exploitation and land-based sources).
